Outtasite.....who's given name is Michael Singleton began his music career in the early 1990's, recording 4 track demo's and doing spot shows opening for national acts in the Pacific Northwest. |
Outtasite discovered early on that daring to be different was much more important than trying to be involved in musical trends of a paticular moment.
After several years of struggling to stand out in the talent heavy local scene, Outtasite made his national debut in 1996 on the Sir Mix-A-Lot track "Fonk4da B.L.V.D." alongside fellow members of his group "The Elite".
Several years later in 99-2000 Outtasite gained local attention for being the only unknown member of an otherwise supergroup of famous seattlelites "SubSet".
After that short-lived yet door opening experience, Outtasite began working on solo material teaming with guitarist Joel Davila (Fury in the Temple) for his debut c.d. "Right Side Down"....a full legth c.d. that featured....Chris Ballew of PUSA , Sir Mix-A-Lot, Sev Johnson of the indy rock band "Peratus", and 3 tracks with drummer Jeff Kathan, and bassist Lynn Sorensen (Paul Rodgers, Sex & Violins)
In 2004 a sample of this self-decribed hybrid noise landed on "Project Gothem 2" (x-box)) via the track titled "High Powered"
.....Samples of Outtasite's debut c.d. have also been heard on MTV's hit show "Pimp my ride", and Saffire Film's indy movie "Forbidden",
among other random places.
Also early in the decade, Outtasite made several guest appearences on DJ Funk Daddy's third full legth c.d "I Wan't All That", and also produced the Sir Mix-A-Lot track "Resonate" which appeared
both on "Project Gotham 1", and the 2003 Sir Mix-A-Lot c.d "Daddy's Home".
In 2004, Outtasite joined "The Presidents of the United States of America" front man Chris Ballew to form a new duo called "The Feelings Hijackers" or T.F.H for short.
After releasing their self titled debut in 2005, the abstract duo began work on T.F.H. vol.2 "Skeletal Remains", released in September 2007.
In 2008, Outtasite served as assistant producer on the debut c.d. from alternative/experimental act "Farchild" titled "Chivalry has Died"
.........and also went into production with Alternative/Hip Hop Group "The Rush Project".
In March of 2008, Outtasite, and guitarist Joel Davila released their second full length c.d. titled:
"Careful What You Wish For" on Sir Mix-A-Lot's Rhyme Cartel Records.
In 2009 Outtasite was featured on the Sony/Legacy release "Playlist the very best of Sir Mix-A-Lot" on the track "Posin like a player".
Also in 2009 the hybrid mainstay began filming footage for a video show called "OuttasiteTV". The show gives you an inside look at the people/artist that shape both pop, and indy culture.
In a producers role, Outtasite currently runs a music licensing business "Going Going Gone Publishing", supplying music for many popular television shows, including Parental Control, Pimp My Ride, The Bad Girls Club & The Real World.
And the beat goes on...
